Etymology: In honor of Mr. Sigmund Samuel, a trustee and benefactor of the Royal Ontario Museum.

Holotype: ROM 840 (old ROM 5437)

Locality: Quarry 020, 1/2 mile east of the Red Deer River at a point 3 1/2 miles south of Steveville and about 160 feet above water level, Dinosaur Provincial Park, Newell County, Alberta Province, Canada.

Horizon: Dinosaur Park Formation, upper Judith River Group.

Biostratigraphy:

Age: Judithian age, Middle Campanian Stage, middle Senonian subepoch, upper Gulf Epoch, Late Cretaceous.

Material: Nearly complete skull and dentary, articulated cervicals to mid dorsals, scapulae, humeri, ulna, radius, metatarsals, ribs and some gastralia.
